Imagine this. What if you could make extra money without switching careers or quitting your job? Anyone can make some extra money in their spare time. You could even give yourself a raise!
All you need is to take an idea and make it profitable. If you’re thoughtful, strategic, and realistic enough you could change how you live.
I call this–a side hustle.
You see, with a side hustle, you don’t need to quit your job. All you need is a realistic idea of what you can do, then create some spare time to do it.
What the key reasons for having a side hustle?
When you receive extra cash from different sources, this means you’re making more income than you normally get, right?
More income, more options, yah? More financial freedom, right? And finally, you will be able to see your dreams come true.
Let me quickly explain why a side hustle is must have.
With a side hustle, you will be able to make ends meet. You no longer have to wait for the next paycheck from your main job to live the life you want.
It will also help you pay off your debt, or pay off student loans quicker, or increase your savings. If you have a particular financial goal, having a side hustle can help you get there more quickly.
Whatever your reason is for making some extra money, I’m here to support you.
How to make extra money online.
Today, I will share with you all kinds of legitimate ways to make money online. Even better, I'm going to tell you exactly how to find them. I don’t want you stressing out and wondering where to look for a side hustle online. It's overwhelming and confusing.
But one thing I want you to know is that my list is not a “get rich quick” scheme. Most of the side gigs I mention here will require a lot of work and dedication. But if you really want to make some extra money, this post is for you.
Get cashback when shopping.
Cashback is a promotion where you receive a percentage of your money back after making an online purchase. All you need to do is buy through their website. They will redirect you to the specific merchant. With cash back, you both earn and save money.
There are some cashback sites out there, but these are the ones I use and recommend.
- Swagbucks: International
- Ebates: mostly US residents
- Top Cashback: UK residents only
- Quidco.com: UK residents.
These are some of the best-paying sites. They are FREE to use and free to sign up for, so why not shop online, save, and get some money back?
By the way, if you refer your friends, you get paid for that too.
Become a freelance writer.
A freelance writer is a person who writes for a variety of companies. With freelance writing, you can submit your work to many different places without being tied to any one company in particular.
It's extremely flexible work.
With freelance writing, you can earn money on the side even if you work a full-time job. You’re not committed to a particular employer long-term, and it’s become one of the most popular ways to earn money online.
Many successful freelancers can earn an average of $1500 to $4000/month. Some are earning twice that.
If you’re interested in writing and want to learn more, I recommend you read this post.
It includes details on how to become a freelance writer.
Become a virtual assistant.
A virtual assistant (VA) is a person who provides support services to other businesses from a remote location. This means you won’t work in your employer's office.
Virtual assistants are in high demand, especially with solo-preneurs and online businesses. There are around 150+ virtual assistant services you can offer today.
Another thing you should know is that a virtual assistant is a home-based business. Do it when you want. If I were you, I would read more here to see if this is something that you could do as a side hustle.
Become a proofreader.
Maybe the first thing you think when you hear the word proofreading is “master’s degree in English.” But you’d be wrong! The first time I heard about proofreading as a side hustle was from my friend Caitlin over at ProofreadAnywhere.com.
She is a former proofreader who now is helping people become proofreaders as a side hustle.
So, when she tells me that you don’t need an English degree (or ANY degree, for that matter) to succeed in the business of proofreading, I believe her.
I know you are wondering now, how much can one make as a proofreader? Well, as a blogger I happen to have a couple of friends who are in that industry, and it turns out — quite a lot!
There are some proofreaders earning over $40,000 working for themselves and loving their jobs.
So, what I can say is this is a side hustle in high demand worldwide, and the best part is that you don’t need to be in any specific location to do the job. You can do it all on your computer or tablet!
I know you want to know more. That’s why I asked Caitlin to put together a free online workshop that answers all of the most common questions about becoming a proofreader, and she even shows you how to use the most popular tools used by proofreaders around the world.
You never know. This is only available for a limited time so that I would sign up today.
If you have expertise in a certain area, why not get paid to teach others how to be successful in that area too. Just to give you an idea, you could teach something like baking, or if you can do thorough research on a topic of interest, then you can create a valuable solution to common problems.

Make money selling online.
For the last few years, the online selling market has been on the rise. And maybe you might have been interested, but don’t know how to get started or know what to sell.
There are many reasons and methods for selling online.
- You can sell things you don’t need any more
- You can buy something and resell it.
- You can create something to sell.
Whichever one is for you, I’m gonna tell you how to get started today. But before you get started, there is one main tip you should know. Please take good pictures of the items you sell.
If you want the item to sell FAST, then it’s vital that you take a clear picture that makes your product stand out from the others.
Remember, this is a market like any other. So if your phone is like mine, and can’t take SOO good pictures, then get this $10 lens for Awesome Mobile Photography to use with your mobile. That's what I use before selling things online, thus need to buy a camera just use this with your smartphone
It’s helped me stand out and sell things quickly. The visual is important.
Start a blog.
I started this blog 2.5 years ago, and it has been the best thing ever. When I started, I knew nothing about blogging. I had to take courses to learn exactly what needs to be done. These courses have helped me become a full-time blogger.
I no longer need to go back to my old job. Blogging is a good side hustle–really good—but it’s something that requires patience, persistence, and discipline.
Anyone can start a blog. And I mean anyone. My advice is to choose a course or an eBook to guide you. I don’t want you to make the same mistakes I did, googling here and there looking for information.
It’s overwhelming, and as you get little bits of advice, you can get confused trying to figure out which one to choose.
So here is my piece of advice. If you want to start a blog all you need is to:
- Decide what you want to blog about
- Choose a name you like. Make it easy to say, easy to spell, and easy to remember.
- Take $3.95, (that's not typo) go to SiteGround to get started. It’s pretty straightforward from there, and also there are instructions if get stuck.
- SiteGround’s customer care is available 24/7 via phone or chat.
- Once you’re set up, you can log in to your blog.
You see, within 20 minutes you have your blog ready.
And if you want to make money from day one you can buy a course like this one.
This will help you to start making money. You’ll learn the exact steps to take so you don’t waste time looking for more information.
Check out my blogging recommendations page for more details, and start a blog side hustle today for $3.95 / month.
If you are already a blogger, here are my recommended resources that I recommend you use.
